First Day of School

Twelve months ago I could barely get out of bed and dress myself, less than get my son ready for pre-school.  I was a mess every morning and needed a 2 hour nap by noon.  This morning, however, was amazing!  I was up and working out at 5:30 AM.  Lunches made, breakfast prepared, children dressed, mommy dressed and family out the door with smiles for Brodie's first day of kindergarten.  Amazing what 12 months can do.  I never dreamed I would be here - strong, happy and organized- again.  Cancer sucks, but Life Rocks!

What have you done this year?

What have you done this year?

This year the name of my Team for the Susan G. Komen Race on September 27, 2009 is "Mia Year One".  Oh, what a year it has been.  I have rebuilt 100% of my life, body, business and family.  It has been difficult, challenging, freeing, and worthwhile as all heck!

Last year we raised $14,000 for the Komen for a Cure.  Let's laugh and walk for a mere 3 miles on a Sunday morning to make the next year incredible for more women and families enduring the diagnosis of cancer.

I am more savy this year about how to make a team happen.  I cannot believe with my chemo brain a year ago, just 5 weeks post chemo I actually created a Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WOW!  My brain went quickly down hill thereafter.  But that is a whole new update to each of you that I can work on due to the beginnings of brain function.

This year --No tent, we will meet at the starting area and I will have cell phones ringing and some flags so you can find us.  I will have hair.  I can not believe how bald I was last year.  ( see attached photo). You all must really love me to let me go out "Bald", really hairless.

I am walking both races again this year.  But I am mostly likely not to need to sleep for 4 days afterwards, like last year.  There will be no running on my part.  I have too many friends that are "non-runners"  and they are more fun than a run any day.

As a survivor of Breast Cancer, I see each year of a life as "priceless".  The number of hours of good health that you have are extremely valuable .  The Komen organization funds cancer research that has given me a new "life, health and future".

What have you done in a year?  What have you accompllished, mazimized, endured, or strengthened?  If you look back at the past 12 months and don't see amazing changes in your life than start today by donating to cancer research and support for cancer patients.

Let's make a BIG difference in this world.  Our goal is $10,000 this year.  So sign up, donate or just ask every woman you know to donate to help find a CURE for breast cancer or atleast a more civilized treatment!
